Mission

The Independent Hospitals Association of Ireland’s mission is to ensure that, through collaboration, its membership is valued nationally and is integral to the Irish Healthcare System, by the promotion of quality independent healthcare. Membership of the IHAI is, therefore, limited to Independent Hospitals that have secured International Accreditation and by so doing have demonstrated an absolute commitment to delivering care in an environment that promotes patient safety and quality.

Policy

The IHAI develops policy in conjunction with the regulatory authorities for the health sector.

Sector information

The IHAI is comprised of 18 hospitals, which together provide over 2,000 beds to the Irish healthcare system. Every year independent Hospitals treat over 200,000 patients in hospitals located across the country. Independent hospitals employ nearly 8,000 people across the country in a range of positions.
